In this hour the devil slowly devours. All your pain holding you down He steals away your soul. That knife in front of you, Turn away from it. At this hour angel of death is right here. He’s begging you … Continue reading
Living for God’s glory is the greatest achievement we can accomplish with our lives.
Yesterday, we learned that life is a temporary assignment. Just like a vacation to New York, Disney Land, or Paris, France is temporary, so is life. We are asked to live our life like it’s a temporary assignment.
Today, we will learn The Reason for Everything. Today is all about God’s glory. How do you glorify God? How do you put a smile on his face? By doing what you are called to do day by day. The Purpose Driven Life list the ways we can bring glory to God.
The first way is by worshiping Him. It is our first responsibility to God. How do we worship him? By enjoying Him. Pray to Him. Tell Him how your day was and let him know your down days. Keep God constantly in your life.
The second way is by loving other believers. We are called to belong and learn ti love the family of God. It is our responsibility to learn how to love as God does. That is how we can honor God.
Next, we bring God glory by becoming like Christ. God wants us to grow to spiritual maturity. What exactly is that? Spiritual maturity is becoming like Jesus Christ in the way we think, feel, and act. Our character should try and imitate Jesus Christ’s character.
Another way we bring God glory is by serving others with our gifts. What are your gifts? Do you know? We are uniquely designed by God and for God with talents, gifts, skills, and abilities. These gifts were given to you by God for a purpose- that is to benefit others. One way I am using my gifts to benefit others is through writing. Sharing this journey with others through blogging is a gift God gave me. By sharing this blog with others, it may help someone in their journey about God and their purpose. A friend of mine is really wanting to read The Purpose Driven Life after reading my blogs. She wants to learn about God’s calling for her.
The last way we can bring God glory is by telling others about Him. This is what I am doing when I am sharing my blogs with you. There are many other ways to tell others about God. What are the ways you tell others about Him?
Who are you living for? Yourself? Or God?
If you are living for God, this will require changes in your priorities, schedules, relationships, and lots more! Sometimes, it will mean choosing a difficult path- a path you may not want to choose. Jesus had a difficult path to choose. He had to choose to sacrifice his life for us to save our sins. Are you willing to choose risky paths?
It is now time to put our whole faith, trust, and hope in God and Jesus Christ. Will you quiet whisper this prayer, “Jesus I believe in you and I receive you” (58). I had said this prayer. Now it is your turn. Only if you want to let God into your everyday daily life, say this prayer. Now, there is one more thing you need to do. You just joined God’s family, He wants you to share about Him with others. Will you go out and tell at least one person what you did just now? Share how you felt about what you did. Last thing you can do, if you own this book or have a copy of it, because you joined the family of God today, you can receive a free booklet called Your First Steps for Spiritual Growth. Please read about how you can receive it. I ordered mine already. Will you?
Today’s point to ponder on: It’s all for Him.
Verse to remember: “For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power and everything is for his glory.” Romans 11:36 (LB)
Question to consider: Where in my daily routine can I become more aware of God’s glory?
Being that I have no job, I have an open schedule. So, finding time for God in my life is a little more easier than say a person who is working two jobs and going to school. I could easily add him in any second of the day. But for someone who has a full schedule, that’s not an option for them. If you are a busy person with a busy schedule, here is my advice to you: find any place in your schedule where you can stop for at least five to ten minutes everyday. Spend those 5-10 minutes with God.
Do you know how to spend those 5-10 minutes with God? You can journal or write a letter to God. You can pray- tell God about your day. He loves hearing that. You can write a poem to God. You can sing a song. Listen to religious music. Ponder over the lyrics. I love being creative, so my examples may be on the creative side. If you don’t like being creative, I’m sure you can find some way to spend time with God. Let me know how your first day with God went 🙂
You were made by God and for God- and until you understand that, life will never make sense.
Remember: “It’s not about you” (17). “You didn’t create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for!” (18). YOU were made FOR GOD. “You may choose your careeer, your spouse, your hobbies, and many other parts of your life, but you don’t get to choose your purpose” (21).
Above I took some notes on what you should remember from today’s reading. What’s important out of it. What stuck out to me. For today, let us ponder on “It’s not about me.” Let us put our self in God’s hands. Let’s trust and have faith that he knows what he is doing. Having faith and trusting in something we don’t see is one of the hardest things we can do. So, let’s take it one day- one step at a time.
Today’s verse to remember is: “Everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.” Colossians 1:16b (Msg)
Today’s question to consider: In spite of all the advertising around me, how can I remind myself that life is really about living for God, not myself?
This question for me is the hardest. When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time at church volunteering. So, I spent a lot of time with God, right? Wrong. I spent my busy life doing things. The only time I had thought about God was when someone brought him up or on Sundays at church. To this day, I still struggle with spending time with God. We all think about things we need to do. But is God in our things to do list? For some, he may not be. Others, he may be at the bottom. God wants to be first on your list. The only way of knowing who you really are is through him. You didn’t create yourself. He created you. He has the knowledge of you. He knows how many strands of hair is on your head. So, how can I remind myself that life is really living for God? It’s a tough question. Making a notecard with the words “It’s not all about me,” could help me remember that there is something far greater in life than just me. If a notecard is hard to keep with you throughout the day, then write it on the palm of your hand with a marker. You can always wash it off at the end of the day.
If you are reading this and feel like you lost and not-so-close-to God, now is the time to get a step closer to him. God has always been reaching out his hand for you. He’s been waiting for you to come back to him. In my previous blog, I mentioned Jesus asking, “Will you not spend one hour with me?” All God wants is to be a part of your life. If it’s your first time, spend 5 minutes one day with God. Journal about it. See how you felt. Was it awkward? Did you like it? Next day add another 5 minutes with God. It two days you have spent 15 minutes with God. Keep adding 5 minutes to your day for God until it becomes natural for you. It will be hard and there may be days you don’t think you need to. But those are the days you need him in your life.
Thanks as always for spending time with me. I would love to have a discussion about this journey. If you would like to be a part of the discussion, feel free to comment. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I love answering comments!! :))
